About the Band

Crooked Roots is one of Atlanta's favorite country, folk, and bluegrass bands. The band draws its repertoire from nearly a century of musical history and peppers in originals which are at turns charmingly tongue-in-cheek and emotionally incandescent.  Major influences range from the Carter Family to Brandi Carlile, from Willie Nelson to Chappell Roan. Comprised of traditional string band instruments, the Crooked Roots' toe tapping bass lines, driving guitar, and tight vocal harmonies keep their fans coming back for more.

This band was born in the kitchen. On a cold winter afternoon in 2023, Jen Garner, Delaney Roberts, and Lauren Spence gathered for the first time around the kitchen table, holding instruments in hands. They wanted to create something together, something shared. Immediately, organically, they realized that their chemistry was special. Since that day, they have done it for the music - only the music, always the music.

Crooked Roots frequently welcomes guest artists and collaborators to join them on stage. Have you ever been to a bluegrass concert that featured raucous trombone solos? The ethereal tinkling of a harp? Masterful cello melodies? A Crooked Roots show is never boring, and it always lifts up music as a force that unites us.  This band embodies the belief that music is a truly human, spontaneous, and joyful experience that fosters community and is meant to be shared.
